Painted Smile

Sometimes I try, to look to the future,
And not linger on to the pain, that seems so vast.
But some hurts are deeper and hard to ignore,
Constantly trying to just shut out the past.

My pain is no more than others around me,
And probably less than some.
But I just want a smile that’s not painted on,
That happiness back, from where ever its gone.

The past can never be changed for me,
And the hurt never taken away.
But maybe the future, holds some surprises,
And here in the present, I’ll try to stay.
